What they are hired to build

The work, before the CV.

A role written against the work gets a better shortlist than a role written against a stack. These are what iOS / Swift engineers are usually brought in to do.

Roles we recruit: iOS engineer · Senior iOS engineer (SwiftUI) · Mobile lead.

  • Consumer apps where feel and performance are the differentiator
  • Apps using camera, location, background processing or HealthKit
  • SwiftUI rewrites of older UIKit applications
  • App Store release management and review handling

The technical screen

What the conversation actually covers.

Every candidate has a real technical conversation with an engineer who has done the job, and you get written evidence per competency. In iOS / Swift, that conversation covers the following.

Usually assessed alongside: Swift, SwiftUI, Combine, XCTest.

  • Memory and retain cycles — the failure they have actually chased down
  • SwiftUI and UIKit together, since most real codebases contain both
  • Concurrency: async/await, actors, and what they replaced
  • Release process, provisioning and what a rejected build taught them
